Songs for Hope Serenade the Grove

NBC4's Fritz Coleman Served as Master of Ceremony for a Free Concert at the Grove Featuring Michael Bolton. The Goal: To Raise Awareness (and Funds) to Fight Breast Cancer

A musical serenade filled the Grove Monday night as musical heavyweights Michael Bolton, Brian McKnight and Mindi Abair performed at a free concert called Songs for Hope, the hope being to find a way to cure breast cancer.

The event was hosted by NBC4's Fritz Coleman who shared a joke and a smile during the evening.

Put on by the Be Aware Foundation, the concert was held in recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The goal: to raise awareness about the importance of early detection of breast cancer and clinical research, and to raise all important funds to battle this deadly disease.

This year the Foundation will be dedicating resources and funds to conduct clinical research with the greatest potential to impact the fight against breast cancer, according to the Be Aware Foundation.

According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the United States. Approximately 207,000 new cases are expected this year - as are more than 39,000 deaths, which makes breast cancer the second leading cause of cancer death in women, PRNewswire reported.
