A suspicious item found at LAX cleared passengers and stalled traffic Monday afternoon, according to airport officials.
The item was found around 2:40 p.m. near the upper-level Terminal 2 ticketing lobby, said Katherine Alvarado, spokeswoman for the airport.
Passengers in the space, which is assigned for departures, were evacuated from the area, Alvarado said.
Police stopped traffic in front of Terminal 1, but traffic on the lower roadway, below the scene, was not impeded.
The LAPD Bomb Squad responded to the scene and is investigating.
