14-Year-Old Rescued From Mine Shaft in San Bernardino County

The teen was pulled free at 5:19 p.m.

A teen was stuck in a San Bernardino County mine shaft on New Year’s Day, according to the San Bernardino County Fire Department.

Around 3 p.m., the 14-year-old boy was riding his motorcycle in Trona when he feel down the mine shaft, authorities said.

The motorcycle tumbled an estimated 15 feet down with him.

The teen was pulled free at 5:19 p.m., according to San Bernardino County Fire.

He suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital via rescue helicopter.

Initially it took 45 minutes to find the teen because he could only see up, making it difficult for rescuers to find the mine shaft he was stuck in on Trona Road.
