Child Hospitalized After Arson Fires, Police Search for Suspect

The two fires were set at residences of the suspect's ex-girlfriend and a family member, police say

A 2-year-old child was hospitalized early Thursday after two arson fires led to a search for a suspect in Torrance.

Details regarding the child's condition were not immediately available.

The first fire -- authorities said it was likely the result of a dispute involving the suspect and his ex-girlfriend -- was reported at about midnight at an apartment in the 16000 block of Crenshaw Boulevard. Firefighters rescued the child, who was found inside the burning apartment.

The suspect, identified as 19-year-old James Dolak, allegedly set fire to another residence in the 3200 block of Opal Avenue. Dolak's mother resides at the house, according to police.

Dolak likely has a weapon, according to police.
