Caught on Video: Stray Bullet Strikes 10-Year-Old Boy

Police search for two men involved in a shooting that wounded two innocent bystanders

Surveillance video released Saturday showed at least four men running through a Long Beach gas station amid a shooting that wounded two innocent bystanders, including a 10-year-old boy who was critically injured as he sat in a vehicle with his parents.

The shooting occurred about 8 p.m. Friday at the corner of Long Beach and Del Amo boulevards, said Nancy Pratt of the Long Beach Police Department.

In the video (embedded above), a red SUV is seen pulling up to the pump. At least four men can be seen running through the area.

Someone then fired a gun, striking the child in the SUV.

The parents of the boy took him to a Long Beach police substation about a quarter-mile away and officers rushed him to a hospital, where he was in critical but stable condition, Pratt said.

The gunfire broke out among a group of men who were arguing near the shooting scene, Pratt said.

A man, who police believe may also have been a bystander, was also shot and took himself to a hospital, Pratt said. He had non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

The gunman in the shooting remained at large, Pratt said.
