A man allegedly armed with a shotgun was holed up with his teenage son in a garage at a residence in Pacoima Tuesday for several hours before surrendering peacefully, police said.
Officers went to the 13100 block of Hoyt Street about 7:40 a.m. on a report that a man with a shotgun was inside with family members after an apparent domestic violence incident, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
A SWAT team was sent to the scene, according to police. An officer at the scene told reporters that other family members, including the man's young daughter, got out safely but the man's teenage son refused to leave the home without his father.
About 10:30 a.m., the man and his son emerged from the home with their hands up.
The man's name was not immediately released.
