Google Chairman Eric Schmidt told an Italian publication that his company would deliver "a tablet of the highest quality" within the next six months, according to

Schmidt told Carriere Delle Sera that the coming battle for market share on mobile devices will be "brutal."

Google did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Whatever the device is that Schmidt referenced, it will ship with Android 4.0, or, Ice Cream Sandwich, their newest and slickest operating system.

High-end tablets like Android and Apple have are doing well with consumers, with Android owning 20 percent of the market. However, Amazon's Kindle Fire is priced to move at $200 -- and they claim to be selling more than one million units per week.
