Teen in Mo. Drew Weapon First at Officer: Police Chief

The black Missouri teenager fatally shot during a confrontation on Dec. 23 with a white officer was armed and attempted to fire his weapon first, officials said at a news conference Tuesday, NBC News reported. Police reviewed surveillance footage and several witness statements to determine 18-year-old Antonio Martin was carrying a gun, Berkeley Police Chief Frank McCall said. This was initially disputed by his family. Mayor Theodore Hoskins said because Martin drew his gun first, "There is no reason for the protesters to continue in the city.” The shooting caused several demonstrations in the town, located just two miles from Ferguson, Missouri.
