Republicans Criticize State of the Union Beforehand

Republican leaders got a jump start on their traditional response to the State of the Union address, criticizing the president Tuesday evening for proposing more government programs and ignoring the results of last year's midterm elections. "President Obama needs to stop just talking about bipartisanship and actually start a meaningful dialogue with members of our Republican-controlled congress," former Arkansas governor and possible 2016 presidential candidate Mike Huckabee said in a statement. Newly elected Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst will deliver the official GOP response, which is expected to focus more on the common ground shared by the president and the Republican-dominated Congress.
