Fight Led to NoHo Man Stabbing Roommate to Death, Police Say

The 45-year-old was taken into custody at a Starbucks in Studio City.

A man accused of fatally stabbing his roommate in North Hollywood was held in the Metropolitan Detention Center Saturday, authorities said.

William Rivera, 45, was taken into custody Friday at a Studio City Starbucks on an arrest warrant for murder, Los Angeles Police Department Detective Meghan Aguilar said.

An LAPD-FBI task force took Rivera into custody at about 11:05 a.m. in the area of Vineland Avenue and Ventura Boulevard, LAPD spokesman Officer Tony Im said.

Rivera was accused of stabbing his roommate at about 7 p.m. Wednesday at a residence in the 6700 block of Tujunga Avenue, Aguilar said. Investigating detectives identified him as the suspect.

The men had been fighting, Im said. The victim was taken to a hospital where he died.

The victim's name was not released pending notification of relatives, the coroner's office said. Rivera was held in lieu of $2 million bail, according to sheriff's inmate records.
