A 31-year-old Pomona father was arrested for child endangerment Thursday for allegedly leaving his 6-year-old son at a local park at night, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Parks Bureau deputies were contacted after a person found the child crying at Legg Lake in the Whittier Narrows Regional Park in South El Monte around 9:40 p.m. Monday.
Deputies attempted to find the father using the "limited information that a young child" could provide. According to LASD, the 6-year-old was "cold and hungry" when they found him. The child was placed in protective custody at 1 a.m. and his mother later took custody of him.
The father was arrested Thursday morning and was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail. He is set to appear in court on Monday, Aug. 11.
