A widespread outage knocked out power for Los Angeles Department of Water and Power customers in the San Fernando Valley Sunday morning.
It wasn't immediately clear how many customers were affected, but earliest reports into the NBC4 newsroom came at 6:40 a.m.
The cause still was unknown as of 7:40 a.m.
Customers from Canoga Park to Sherman Oaks and Woodland Hills tweeted to NBCLA to report the power had been out for at least a half an hour.
Residents also reported hearing sirens in the area where power was lost.

By 7:45 a.m., residents in parts of Sherman Oaks, Winnetka and other areas began reporting that the power was back on.
