Bowa Says Good Riddance To “Lazy” Brad Penny

Brad Penny didn’t enjoy his time in Los Angeles (well, maybe his time with Alyssa Milano, but that was a couple years ago) and yesterday he said the reason was largely Dodgers third base coach Larry Bowa.

“There were a few people I didn’t get along with on the coaching staff that don’t respect people. I mean, me and Joe [Torre] got along fine. I just feel like nobody had my back there. You’re in the clubhouse and you have players coming up to you saying coaches are saying this to them about you. And that’s just not a good situation to be in.”

Penny then identified Bowa as that coach. So how did Bowa respond?

"The same guy that's never on time, out of shape, has one complete game (in his Dodgers career)? That Brad Penny?"

Bowa said Penny never watched games with the team while he was on the disabled list.

"As soon as the game started, he was out.

"I'm in everyone's corner when they work. When they're lazy and don't work, I could give one (hoot) about them."

Was Penny out of shape and lazy? We need to bring Milano in to answer that one.
