Ex-NBA Player Jeff Adrien Pleads Not Guilty to Taking Mercedes

A former NBA player pleaded not guilty Wednesday to a charge that he took off in a Mercedes-Benz from a hotel valet earlier this month, Los Angeles County prosecutors said.

Jeff Adrien was charged with one felony count of driving or taking a vehicle without consent, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

Adrien was seen driving the car - which had some damage - and pulling into a hotel parking lot Dec. 7 after the owner was told the 2015 Mercedes-Benz S550 had already been taken.

The valets tried to speak with Adrien, but he walked away, prosecutors said.

A district attorney's office spokeswoman declined to say how long Adrien was in possession of the car or why he allegedly took it.

He was arrested the same day by Los Angeles police officers and released on $25,000 bond.

Adrien, a University of Connecticut standout, has played for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Charlotte Bobcats, Milwaukee Bucks, Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors.
