Lakers Beat Nets, Advance to Summer League Semifinals

The Los Angeles Lakers have won four games in a row and will now play in the Summer League semifinals on Sunday in Las Vegas

Vander Blue scored 27 points, Kyle Kuzma added 26 more and Lonzo Ball flirted with yet another triple-double to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a 115-106 victory over the Brooklyn Nets in the Las Vegas Summer League quarterfinals on Saturday night in Las Vegas.

Ball finished with 14 points, nine rebounds and eight assists in 34 minutes, as the Lakers extended their Summer League winning streak to four games after losing the opening two contests of the session.

Along with Blue, Kuzma and Ball, the Lakers received notable contributions from Travis Wear, as the former UCLA Bruin hit four of his six three-point attempts, and Matt Thomas, who finished with 17 points on 6-9 shooting from the field and 3-4 from three-point land. In fact, the Lakers hit 14-26 from three, with Blue, Kuzma and Thomas all making a trio of three-pointers each, while Wear finished top of the pile with four long bombs to his name.

Brooklyn offerred the Lakers their toughest test thus far, as Brooklyn's starting five featured four players with at least a season of NBA experience in Caris LeVert, Spencer Dinwiddie, Isaiah Whitehead and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, all of whom scored at least 15 points on the night.

However, the Lakers sharing of the basketball combined with the extra contributions from guys like Wear and Thomas helped LA hold off the Nets' charge and send the Lakers into the final two days of the competition. On the night, the Lakers finished with 26 assists on 42 made field goals.

The Lakers now face their fourth game in five days at 5 p.m. Pacific Time against the Dallas Mavericks. The winner of that game will play in the final on Monday against the winner of the Portland Trail Blazers and the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Lakers are only two wins away from the 2017 Summer League trophy.
