Pity Manny Ramirez. It’s not enough he’s made enough money to live like a king in this country, let alone in the Dominican Republic. It’s not enough that legions of fans wear his jersey and don wigs in his honor.
The man doesn’t feel loved because the only offers for his services have been for two years at a measly $45 million.
Manny Ramirez is growing extremely upset about the lack of suitors for his services, so much so that he has told friends he would contemplate retirement if a suitable offer doesn't arrive soon, a person close to the situation told Newsday.
Let’s be honest, Manny being Manny does not include him walking away from $45 million, even he is not that crazy. But you get the feeling he believed everything Scott Boras told him, that teams would be beating down his door to offer a Bonds/A-Rod type contract. But that was not going to ever happen at his age with his history, not even in a good economy.
Time to suck it up and just make in the next two years 30 times what the average American makes over the course of his or her life. Somehow you’ll get by.
