Rams Owner Stan Kroenke Q&A

Rams owner Stan Kroenke is a quiet man by nature. The 68 year old doesn't speak to the media much yet on Friday he sat down with NBC4's Fred Roggin to discuss a variety of topics, including his philosophy on ownership.

"The best owners are passionate about sports but they're rational about business," he said. "LA is made up of all these wonderful, diverse groups and we haven't been here for 21 years so they have their favorite teams. And so we have to become relevant. The best way to do that is win but also have the great environment. That's what we're going to do."

Fred Roggin: (Chargers owner) Dean Spanos made the comment he doesn't trust you. He doesn't want to be your partner. He doesn't want to work with you. He doesn't want to have anything to do with you. Do we forget about that trash talking or do we keep it somewhere in the back of our minds?

Stan Kroenke: No, I mean I like Dean. I've known Dean a long time. I just think the competitiveness of the moment ... I don't even know that he said that and if you tell me, Fred, he said that, then I know he did, OK? That doesn't concern me. People are competitive in the heat of the moment. People say things. That's really not relevant to me.

FR: You have a two-team stadium. Do you care who your partner is here?

SK: Well, I'll be guided by the NFL, already have been guided. We'll see how it happens. There's a process there we're gonna engage in it. Hopefully it will come out well for the league and for us. I mean, it's always better for us to have a second team. If you want to talk about pure economics, you get 10 more dates. It's always better.

FR: You've done a lot of things, Stan, and no one can deny any of that. Is this the crowning achievement for you?

SK: Well, you know, I hope I'm always challenged. I hope I'm always curious, hope I always want to move forward. This is an unbelievable opportunity and I would say it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
