A pregnant woman was stabbed in the chest during a carjacking in the Sunland-Tujunga area of Los Angeles Wednesday.
The carjacking was reported just after 6 p.m. in the 10800 block of Eldora Avenue, according to Officer Tony Im of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section.
A pedestrian asked to use the driver's cell phone, and when she rolled down her window, the man allegedly stabbed her and tossed her out of the car.
A man stabbed the female driver in the chest and took her vehicle, which he crashed into some parked vehicles, Im said.
The suspect then got into a following vehicle that fled the scene, Im said.
The victim was in critical condition when taken to a hospital, he said.
The man was described as 22-27 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall and wearing a black, possibly Pittsburgh Steelers, jersey.
