Try though we might, we cannot summon faraway vacation destinations, through the sheer power of wishing, to Southern California.
This true fact applies to every distant land we do love, from Iceland to Thailand to Switzerland. Stay put, these lovely lands must, and we must travel to them, if we'd like to experience all of their amazing gifts.
But there is a land that shall soon make its way to our area, and while it isn't nearly as large as any vacation destination you might have in your mind, it should provide you a picture-packed, snack-packed few minutes of guac-tastic goodness.
What will this luscious 'land deliver unto we avo-focused foodies of SoCal?
The opportunity to take a photo with an over-sized alligator pear (faux, natch). The chance to participate in greeny games. And, yes, a route to trying Wholly Guacamole guacamole.
Want to find new things to do in Los Angeles? The Scene's lifestyle stories have you covered. Here's your go-to source on where the fun is across SoCal and for the weekend.
And all routes leading to free guacamole samples should forever remain clear and passable, in our books.
If you're keeping note on your avocado-themed calendar, by the by, July 31 is National Avocado Day, oh yes it is.
And lookie here, over 21-ers: Angel City Brewery is holding is annual Avocado Festival on Aug. 11 and 12, a party timed to the release of its latest avocado-themed ale.
Things are so magical, what with all the avocado-cool stuff afoot, that we just might feel powerful enough to summon a whole land to this region. And look, Guaclandia is on its delicious way, hooray.
