Happy 5769 to our Jewish brothers and sisters! A reader who has been living in her place since way back in 5759 has a question on her security deposit: "I was wondering if other readers experience this situation: My manager of my 2 bed/2bath apartment asked for me to pay more money for my security deposit to 'come up to the level of my rent'. I've lived in the apartment for 10 years in North Hollywood, and my rent goes up once a year about $50-$75. I am on a month to month lease. I am lucky because I pay for a 2 bedroom what a 1 bedroom would go for in my building. Is this legal? Does this happen often to other renters?"
