FINDING THAT #FRIDAYFEELING? Frankly, it shouldn't require all that much effort, for that #fridayfeeling is, at its heart, all about living life a little easier, making must-dos a little breezier, and sailing into the weekend with no worries and no hurries. But sometimes jumpstarting one of the internet's most-oft-returned-to hashtags does require effort. Sometimes we wake up on a Friday in a mood, after an especially long week. Sometimes we're still carrying too much Monday on our shoulders, still. One solution to slipping into that #fridayfeeling faster? Go directly to nature on a Friday, and do it early, and if you can ride a conveyance that possesses history, charm, and big views, so much the better. It so happens that all of those qualities weave through the world-famous...
PALM SPRINGS AERIAL TRAMWAY, the up, up, up the mountain attraction found in the desert resort city. The mid-century wonder climbs to over 8,500 feet, and its ultimate mountain stop, which is handily called Mountain Station, throughout the year. But come summertime? Something a little special happens. Those rides begin early on Fridays, at 8 a.m., which means A) the summer afternoon heat hasn't yet arrived at that point in the day and B) you can be on Mt. San Jacinto by the time it does. That absolutely feels like a real #fridayfeeling, and if you choose to come back down, after a short hike, say, by 10 a.m., well, you've got your Friday already fixed in a festive mindset. The new Friday warm-weather hours for the tram begin on Friday, May 25, which is, yes, the Friday just before Memorial Day Weekend.
EXTENDED EVENINGS, TOO: If you prefer those quintessential desert summer nights to the mornings, take heart, for the tram's extended evening hours begin on May 25, too. Note that later trams are available on Fridays and Saturdays, with the last tram heading up the mountain at 9 o'clock, with the final car departing the mountain at 10:30. All the details? Mountain mavens and desert devotees, they're all right here.
