8/14: Cinema Lounge Starts Tonight

CINEMA LOUNGE OPENS: The Downtown Film Festival, which flickered on on August 12th and rolls credits on August 22nd, kicks off its Cinema Lounge. Ahead: a host of DJs, dancing, theme nights spotlighting various cuisines, art. It's at the AT&T Center. It sashays nightly  from August 14th through the 21st. And your entry is free, free, free, if you show with a stub from any of the festival's screenings. You want to see a movie. And then you want to get down, get down...

CROSS HART JAZZ EXPERIENCE: It's free. It's at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. It's a summer tradition. And we don't want to be the ones to remind you that summer is winding, slowly, slowly, down. If ever we were going to relax to music and an end-of-the-week sunset, this would be the night. Irish Coffee at Tom Bergin's after? We think so. 6PM

FRIDAY NIGHT SING-ALONG: Free again. Free. There are only four of these listed at Music Center Plaza for the en-ti-re year of two thousand and nine. Two have passed; Halloween is ahead. But tonight is Broadway. Oh, we're feeling downright showtune-y. We want to warble with a live orchestra.. There is indeed no business like show business, and nothing like a pay-nothing night singing at Disney Concert Hall. But arrive early... 7:30-9PM
