Apple's new iPad will have a 12.9-inch screen and be available in early 2015, according to reports.
The news, coming from unnamed sources, is that Apple has been working on the product for a year, Bloomberg News reported. Apple declined to comment on the report.
The current iPad line has 7.9-inch and 9.7-inch displays, but the new, larger screen may attract gamers, and heavy users of video content. There's talk that Apple will also be making the iPhone bigger, up to a 5.5-inch screen, as well as selling models with 4.7-inch displays.
The odd thing is that tablet prices have been pushed down by the glut of low-end machines, but we figure Apple has decided it wants to hold onto its higher-end clientele and cater to them. Instead of cheaper, it's likely the new iPad will be more expensive, but it will also act like a laptop so users will have more versatility at work -- and maybe increase the iPad's march into enterprise?
