Take a 360-Degree Tour of Apple's Largest Store With an iPhone

Even though I live in New York City, I've yet to find time to head over to the so-called "world's largest Apple Store" located in the busy Grand Central Terminal hub. Now, I don't have to ever make the trip because I can skip the crowds and take a virtual tour of the store using an iPhone and its built-in gyroscope!

It's nuggets like this that keeps the tech word licking Apple's scraps. Handing out free limited edition T-shirt to the first 4,000 customers is one thing, but including a 360-degree view of its newest retail store that can only be seen with certain iOS devices is an Easter egg we can totally get behind.

Discovered by The Next Web, in order to trigger the 360-degree view, all you have to do is go to Apple's Grand Central Terminal retail store website using an iPhone 4, 4S, iPad 2 or iPod Touch (fourth-gen), click "View More Photos" and then click the last photo on the pop-up with "360" labeled on it and you're all set.

I just tried it out on my iPhone 4 and while using the gyroscope is a nice trick to seeing all of Grand Central Terminal (you can also control the view with your finger), you can't really see into the Apple Store, which feels like a bit of a letdown.

Go ahead and try it for yourself. I'm not sure GCT is the most interesting place to give a 360-degree view of, but I'd like to see more of these gyro-controlled tours/guides make their way out into the wild for, say, landmarks, museums, etc. They could prove to be useful, or just make everybody gyroscoping away in public with their iPhones look like doofuses.
