Early Bird Tickets: LA Chocolate Salon

The autumntime to-do is a top-tier hap for lovers of sweets.

The rather marvelous thing about people who love sweets -- and not just sweets but specifically candy -- and not just candy but specifically chocolate -- is that they don't necessarily seek out the posh and the fancy and the high-end.

That's not true in all food classes. Some people only want a certain cut of steak and some will only drink a particular spirit, but chocolate aficionados are just as likely to grab a candy bar at a convenience store as visit a salon serving handmade morsels filled with rare cocoa, gold flakes, and pink sea salt.

Perhaps, though, that's because the posher chocolate tastings come around a lot less often than a visit to the speedy mart. The one exception is the Los Angeles Chocolate Salon, which will again visit the Pasadena Convention Center for another round of fancy candy tasting.

The date is Sunday, Oct. 6 and early bird tickets? They're now on sale.

Past chocolatiers and confectioners who've visited the salon have included Amella Caramels, Butterfly Brittle, Marti Chocolatt, and Droga Confections. And the samples? They'll run the gooey gamut from straight-up chocolates squares to caramel drops dipped in ingredients like lavender or crystallized sugar or maybe both.

Entry, tastings, and all demos are twenty bucks (that's the early bird price, note). And no guilt -- isn't October about sweets? Nope, you don't have to go door-to-door, but you do have to wend your way to the Pasadena Convention Center on the first Sunday of the candy-iest month of the year.
