Computers have been seized from the home of Amy Beck, a 33-year-old teacher who surrendered to police on suspicion of having sex with one of her students, police said Wednesday.

The computers were taken while authorities were serving a search warrant on Tuesday, said Burbank police Sgt. Robert Quesada.

"They recovered some computers, and they're going to be going through that computer there to see what type of communication was going on between our victim and our suspect," Quesada said.

Beck, a teacher at David Starr Jordan Middle School, surrendered to police on Monday.

"She said she had sexual relations with one of her students," said Quesada.

Police interviewed the boy "and confirmed that the acts did occur" between March and September of last year, the sergeant said. The minor is currently 15-years-old but at the alleged time of contact was 14, said authorities.

Prosecutors charged her with five counts, including four counts of unlawful sex with a person under 16 and one count of oral copulation with a person under 16, the Los Angeles Times reported. She faces up to seven years in prison if convicted of all charges, say prosecutors.

Beck appeared in court Wednesday, but her arraignment was postponed until March 25.

She remains in jail on $175,000 bond. Her attorney said Wednesday that Beck wants to stay in jail, so she can avoid media scrutiny.

"She's a well respected and loved teacher. We're all shocked," school Principal Sharon Cuseo told the Burbank Leader on Tuesday.

Beck resigned on Friday, Cuseo told the newspaper: "There was no explanation in her resignation letter; it was just that she was resigning immediately."

She taught English and social science, according to the Burbank Leader. The Los Angeles Daily News reported that Beck is married to a police officer.

According to a Facebook group for alumni, the school's mascot is the cougar.

Anyone with information about the case was asked to contact police at 818-238-3254.
