2.7 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Marina Del Rey

An earthquake struck near Marina del Rey Friday night but no damage or injuries were reported, according to officials with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's in Marina del Rey Station and Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The U.S. Geological Survey reported the earthquake had a magnitude 2.7 and struck two miles east-northeast of Marina del Rey at 9:55 p.m.

A magnitude-2.7 earthquake "would only be felt (by) people right above it who were in a quiet setting," U.S. Geological Survey seismologist Lucy Jones wrote on Twitter.

The earthquake was "way too small to assign to a mapped fault," Jones wrote.

"This would have moved a fault only a few yards across,'' Jones wrote.

People reported feeling the quake in North Hollywood, Pacific Palisades, Santa Monica, Venice Beach, and at Los Angeles International Airport.
