Arraignment Scheduled for Orange County Bus Flasher

A 37-year-old man was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday on charges of exposing himself on Orange County buses.

Stephen Ponte Garcia is charged with two felony counts of indecent exposure with prior convictions. The incidents happened on Sept. 28 and Oct. 5, according to court records.

Orange County sheriff's deputies assigned to a unit patrolling the Orange County Transportation Authority's property took Garcia into custody Tuesday on an arrest warrant stemming from a three-week investigation, according to the Sheriff's Department.

An anonymous tip last month led deputies to begin the investigation of a bus flasher. Investigators reviewed bus surveillance video, which helped lead them to Garcia as a suspect, deputies said.

Investigators suspect he exposed himself at least four separate times on buses throughout the northern part of the county, deputies said. He allegedly would expose himself to female passengers as he sat in the rear of the buses, deputies said.

Investigators suspect there may be more victims and asked anyone with information to call deputies at 714-265-4340 or 714-647-7000.
