A body found inside this trash bin in Brea was identified June 22, 2013, as Jose Ramiro Baez Paredes, 46, of Santa Ana.

A body found in a trash can left on the side of a Brea road was identified Saturday, police said.

He was identified as Jose Ramiro Baez Paredes, 46, of Santa Ana. He was also known as Ramiro Baez Parades.

A commuter who drives along Brea Canyon Road daily noticed the trash bin on a remote stretch of the rural road about a week ago.

On Friday, the driver who decided to investigate the container “opened it up, and, when they realized there was a body inside” called police, said Lt. Jerry Brakebill, of the Brea Police Department.

The cause of death had not yet been determined, he said. The discovery is being investigated as a homicide.

Police closed off Brea Canyon Road from Central Avenue to Tonner Canyon Road for the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Brea Police Detective Rueben Alonzo at (714) 990-7637.
