Fire-rescue crews removed the car's roof to reach the trapped victim on Hollywood Boulevard

Two people were hospitalized early Tuesday after the car in which they were traveling collided head-on with a Metro Rapid transit bus Tuesday morning in Hollywood.

The chain of collisions in the 7800 block of Hollywood Boulevard (map) began when an unoccupied dump truck that rolled into the street sideswiped the Metro bus, according to Metro and Los Angeles Fire Department officials. The bus then collided with the car.

Fire-rescue personnel removed the car's roof to reach the victims. The victims were hospitalized in serious and fair condition, according to the fire department.

About 20 people were aboard the bus, according to fire officials. The driver was hospitalized in fair condition.
