VIDEO: Dog and Tortoise Get Stuck in a Backyard Tunnel in Fontana

Normally, it wouldn’t be a problem for Taylor to make her way out of a tunnel. But this time there was something in the way - their tortoise.

A family in Fontana had quite a unique experience when their pets got into deep trouble.

The Arballo’s own a German Shepherd named Taylor and a giant tortoise by the name of Godzilla.

Taylor loves the game of fetch, but chasing after her toys may be what landed her several feet deep into a long tunnel in the family’s backyard.

Normally, it wouldn’t be a problem for Taylor to make her way out of a tunnel. But on Thursday afternoon there was something in the way - their tortoise.

Her name is Godzilla. “My 80 pound tortoise,” said pet owner Tracy, “she’s huge.”

The Arballos called the firefighters to the rescue, and them, and the whole family, dove into the tunnel trying to free Taylor and desperate to get Godzilla to budge.

“The dog is our family dog, we love her very much,” said Tracy’s brother, Simon Arballo. “I was just trying to free her.”

After about 30 minutes of trying many alternatives, it became clear that Godzilla couldn’t be forced out of that tunnel. Instead, she needed some enticing.

“We just got the lettuce, you know, and some little carrots, a little maneuver and she’s out,” Tracy said, “just enough for Taylor to come out and happy ending.”
