Firefighters Rescue Teen Stuck in Chimney in Lancaster

The teenage boy was stuck in the chimney for more than an hour.

A teenage boy was rescued Monday night after being stuck in a chimney in Lancaster for more than an hour.

Los Angeles County Fire Department Capt. Daniel Riley said it appears the boy climbed in to his neighbors' chimney from the top and got stuck down below.

Firefighters arrived at the single story house on Thornwood Avenue around 7 p.m., finding the boy lodged in the lower part of the chimney.

After 90 minutes, firefighters were able to get the boy out safely by taking apart the lower section of the fireplace, Riley said.

"One brother locked the other brother out. Friend said, I'll help get in. I guess he climbed on the roof, went down the chimney. Got stuck!" said June McKinnon, a witness.

The boy suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for further evaluation.
