Flames Erupt From Strip Mall in Van Nuys

It took 95 firefighters a little more than an hour to knock down a blaze Thursday night at a one-story strip mall in Van Nuys where the mall's roof partially collapsed.

No injuries had been reported in the fire, which broke out at 9:47 p.m. at 13637 Vanowen Street, near Woodman Avenue, according to Amy Bastman of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

One unit was damaged and the two units alongside it were exposed to the fire, Bastman said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation and the loss was to be determined.
