Two Arrested in Hit-and-Run Crash That Killed Boy, 17

Witnesses took photos of the SUV used to run over 17-year-old Andrew Rodriguez

Two teens were arrested Wednesday in a Riverside County hit-and-run crash that killed a 17-year-old boy who was walking his dog.

The suspects, ages 19 and 17, were arrested Wednesday night in Hemet, where Andrew Rodriguez was struck and killed Monday in the 800 block of Sunjoy Drive not far from his family's home. Two occupants in a sport utility vehicle argued with Rodriguez, then intentionally drove over him, according to witnesses.

A neighbor took photos of the vehicle as they driver left the crime scene. The two suspects were found with the vehicle when they were arrested, police said.

Details about the arrests were not immediately available. Both suspects were arrested on suspicion of murder and robbery.

The victim's father said his son was preparing to go to college. Flowers, pictures and candles were left at the crash site in memory of Andrew.

"He was a good person," said friend Andy Flores. "To get his life taken away like that -- he didn't deserve that."
