A woman was killed in a five-vehicle crash Wednesday night that involved two pickup truck drivers who were possibly involved in a street race that reached 100 mph on a Paramount street.
One of the pickup drivers left the scene of the 7:25 p.m. crash at the intersection of Somerset Boulevard and Orange Avenue that left one dead and six injured. The other pickup driver remained in stable condition at a hospital Wednesday, according to police.
Witnesses reported a black Chevrolet Silverado and another dark truck that appeared to be racing, according to officials with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
One of the pickup drivers went through the intersection and was not involved in the crash. That driver left the location, according to investigators.
The other pickup slammed into a silver Ford F150, killing a passenger.
"(It was) just a loud popping crashing, you know, just a really loud bang, boom, parts flying everywhere," witness Rosa Lopez said.
The deceased victim was identified only as a woman in her 70s. The F150 pickup driver also was injured, but details regarding the driver's condition were not immediately available.
