Lanes Reopen on 5 Freeway After Debris Spills in Crash

Lanes reopened on the 5 Freeway early Saturday morning after a crash involving a semi spilled thousands of pounds of gravel and asphalt debris on the road, authorities said.

The crash was reported around 2:30 a.m. on the southbound 5 Freeway near Osborne Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP said debris spilled into all lanes on the freeway after the semi and a pick-up truck collided. An estimated 27,000 pounds of debris spilled in the crash.

All lanes were temporarily closed except two far right lanes, according to the CHP.

It was unknown if any motorists or passengers suffered injuries.

Crews cleaned up the spill and laned were reopened after about one hour, according to the CHP.
