Large Tire Fire Extinguished in Compton

    Firefighters extinguished an early morning blaze at a tire manufacturing plant in Compton Monday.

    A large pile of rubber tires began burning around 4:45 a.m. in the 15800 block of Avalon Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

    Officials said the fire was contained to the rear of the building, which was not occupied. It was knocked down around 5 a.m.

    A bulldozer was called to the scene to clean the debris.

    No injuries were reported in the blaze.
