Man in Critical Condition After Gas Station Shooting in Carson

Investigators are reviewing surveillance video of the shooting in the Avalon Boulevard station

A man was critically wounded after he was shot inside a gas station in Carson on Tuesday night as he stood at the cashier's counter.

Deputies said the shooting occurred around 10 p.m. in the 23000 block of Avalon Boulevard. The victim was shot while inside the gas station's convenience store and his wife and child waited outside, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The victim was a customer at the gas station and was shot three-to-five times, deputies said. At least two customers were in the station.

Investigators did not know what led up to the shooting and said they were reviewing surveillance video. They said it appeared the victim was deliberately targeted.

Deputies said the shooting appeared to be random based on a preliminary investigation.

There were customers and employees in the store during the shooting who told investigators the suspect wore a blue hoodie and fled on foot heading west on Sepulveda Boulevard.

No arrests were reported Wednesday.
