Man Left in Coma After Brutal West Hollywood Beating

The victim's identity was unknown for days as he was treated at Cedars Sinai Medical Center for his injuries, which included brain trauma

A man was left in a coma after being brutally beaten by four attackers in West Hollywood.

Kirk Doffing was attacked near Santa Monica and San Vicente boulevards at around 9 p.m. Sunday May 24, a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokesman said.

His identity was unknown for days as he was treated at Cedars Sinai Medical Center for his injuries, which included brain trauma, and his family rushed by his side when they discovered what had happened.

"(He is) very lucky to be alive. Every breathing moment," his sister Jackie Geisinger, who traveled from Minnesota to be with Doffing, said.

She is disgusted her relative had to be put in a medically induced coma after the vicious attack.

"It's not right. You look at in hospital bed like that who is someone you love, and wouldn't ever do anything to anyone? How can you?" Geisinger said. "At first we didn't know he would make it. The first day doctors were… setting me up, by the time I got here I didn't know if he would be with us."

Doffing's attackers are described as a man in a trenchcoat and three accomplices, and his loved ones are begging anyone with information to come forward.

"Any and everything that happened that night, look at it," his friend Derrick Hardin said. "Any little detail may help us find who did this to our friend."
