"I heard like 11 shots, peoples creaming, running," a witness said

Authorities sealed off a Metro Gold Line station in Boyle Heights on Saturday night as they investigated the fatal shooting of a man at a street-level entrance.

The incident was reported about 7:15 p.m. at the Soto Street station at 1st Street, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Detectives said three 20-year-old men had gotten into an argument with the man near the station elevators, before one of them shot the man several times at close range. The men then fled westbound on 1st Street.

"I heard like 11 shots, peoples creaming, running," witness Sheila Flores said.

The victim, a man in his early 20s, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, deputies said.

Metro riders were advised to board the Gold Line at the Mariachi Plaza or Indiana stations during the Soto closure.

No additional details were immediately available.
