Man Working on Car in Lynwood Gunned Down

A man working on his car in Lynwood was shot and killed by a gunman who drove up in an SUV, opened fire and took off, sheriff’s deputies say.

The victim was outside his home in the 2700 block of Norton Avenue about 4:40 p.m. Monday when the gunman pulled up in a black SUV, got out and fired multiple rounds, before returning to the vehicle and fleeing, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The victim was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Neighbors told Telemundo 52 the victim was repairing his car when at least four shots rang out. They described him as a 43-year-old man who stayed out of trouble. He has not been identified.

Homicide detectives were investigating the slaying.

There was no information on the shooter.
