Mother Who Went Missing Left Voluntarily

Authorities initially said there were no immediate signs suggesting she ran away.

A mother who went missing last week in Santa Clarita has been found and authorities said it appeared she left voluntarily, authorities said.

Kristin Whitney Ghilardi was spotted at various businesses in the Ventura and Northridge areas, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department officials said in a news release.

"Ghilardi did not appear to be in distress and appeared to be doing fine," officials said.

Officials did not know why she did not notify her family and friends of her location and well-being.

Deputies credited leads generated from media coverage led to Ghilardi's location.

The case came to light last week as her family pleaded with the public to help bring the 29-year-old single mother home after telling her roommate she was giving a homeless parolee a ride to check in with his parole officer.

Ghilardi was seen in Canyon Country on Wednesday, Aug. 26 driving her charcoal-gray, four-door 2006 Toyota Corolla leaving a friend's house, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
