One Injured, 30 Displaced by Apartment Building Roof Collapse in Irvine

A building in Irvine was evacuated and one person injured after a roof collapsed due a hot water pipe failure at an Irvine apartment building early Wednesday.

The incident occured at a luxury complex at 2850 Kelvin Street at around 2 a.m, Orange County Fire Authority said.

A woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries after slipping on water in the 4th floor common hallway area.

In total, 64 adults were in the building, and 30 people have been displaced. Those not able to stay at the complex will be eligible for aid from the Red Cross.
