Police Pursuit Ends With Violent Crash in Van Nuys

A reported stolen vehicle pursued by police Friday night crashed into several vehicles injuring the passengers, police said.

The pursuit began just before 10 p.m. in Sherman Oaks when police noticed a stolen Lexus.

Officers chased the vehicle which later crashed into five cars near the intersection of Sepulveda and Magnolia boulevards in Van Nuys. The pursued vehicle then spun out of control and crashed into a light pole, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Several victims were injured, including a man and a woman driving the stolen car with a child in the back seat. The child was not injured in the crash, according to the LAPD.

The driver and a female passenger were taken into custody, according to the LAPD.

The condition of the victims injured was unknown.

One motorist was seriously injured during the crash but police said they believe her injuries were not life threatening, according to the LAPD.

No other injuries were reported.
