SoCal Fanny Pack Thief on the Loose

The victim's credit cards, and the victim's late father's NYPD flat badge were in the fanny pack when it was stolen, police said

A Southern California thief is on the loose after stealing a fanny pack that had a New York Police Department badge and credit cards inside of it, police said Wednesday.

Someone stole the fanny pack from a victim's unlocked car on July 26, while it was parked in a lot at the Ojai Farmer's Market, according to the Ojai Police Department.

The victim's credit cards, and the victim's late father's NYPD flat badge were in the fanny pack when it was stolen, police said. Police called the crime identity theft.

Detectives discovered the stolen cards were used multiple times in Ventura and Oxnard on the day they were stolen. Surveillance footage captured a man police believe is 35 to 40 years old, making purchases with the stolen credit cards.
