Strong winds knocked down a series of power poles along a 2-mile stretch of road in Lancaster Tuesday night, shutting roads and knocking out power to homes in the surrounding area.
Los Angeles County Fire Department officials said the poles fell just after 7 p.m. at in the 47000 block of North 110th Street West in the "Antelope Acres" area of Lancaster.
The area is 10 miles west of the Antelope Valley Freeway.
All north and southbound lanes of 110th Street West from Avenue G to Avenue D were shut down indefinitely. Power is out in the surrounding area.
Wires were down on top of a house. Up to 50 power poles were down in the road, stretching over two miles between Avenue I and Avenue D, said Southern california Edison spokesman Daniel Brady.
Four homes were without power.
It'll take up to four days to replace all the poles and wires, the CHP said.
