Rash of Murders Reported in San Bernardino

Four reported in past six days

Police in San Bernardino are investigating a rash of murders.

There appears to be no indication though that any of the killings -- four in the last six days -- are related.

The latest murder occurred early Friday morning. The body of an unidentified woman was found in an alley behind homes in the 2000 block of Western Avenue, police said.

A number of residents reported hearing gunfire around 5:45 a.m. One of the residents went out to check on her dogs and discovered the woman's body.

Police described the victim as a black woman in her 40s or 50s. She suffered at least one gunshot wound, police said.

Anyone who might have information about the incident was asked to call the San Bernardino Police Department.

The latest killing is the city's 10th so far this year, on pace with the number from last year.
