Witnesses Help Detain Suspect Attempting to Rob Woman in Denny's Parking Lot

An armed woman was arrested Wednesday after attacking another woman during an attempted robbery outside a Denny's restaurant in Wilmington, Los Angeles police said.

At about 11 p.m., the Los Angeles Police Department's Harbor Division responded to reports of a possible burglary in the parking lot of the restaurant in the 1000 block of West Pacific Coast Highway.

According to police, the suspect approached a woman sitting in her car and started speaking to her.

The victim, believed to be about 65 to 75 years old, did not have her hearing device on and could not hear what the suspect was saying.

According to police. the suspect, possibly in her late 20s, attempted to attack the woman with a knife.

Witnesses in the area grabbed the suspect. detained her, and threw the knife on the roof of the car until police arrived, LAPD said.

The younger woman was arrested and faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon.

The victim's injuries were described as red marks on the neck.
