Protestors Claiming “Wage Theft” March in Long Beach for $15 Per Hour

Workers and advocates said 40 percent of residents do not earn a living wage in Long Beach.

Hundreds of local workers who say they are earning less than a living wage rallied in Long Beach Friday morning.

The protestors were set to march through downtown Long Beach beginning at Pine Avenue and ending at City Hall.

They demand the minimum wage be raised to $15 and paid sick leave.

The workers and advocates say 40 percent of residents aren’t currently earning a living wage.

Friday's protests came after similar protests earlier in 2015 during which workers demanded $15 per hour.

Following nationwide protests, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted to incrementally raise the minimum wage to $15 by the year 2020.
