A father and son were fatally shot in a gated community home in Valencia Sunday night, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Santa Clarita station.
Authorities responded to the 28700 block of Iron Village Drive, bringing a heavy police presence into the neighborhood. Deputies said the call originally came in as a domestic violence situation that involved a father and son.
Detectives determined there was a dispute between the two men, ages 53 and 23, before the shooting. Both men, residents of the home, died at a hospital.
The younger man suffered a single gunshot to the head. The other man suffered gunshots to the upper body, according to the sheriff's department.
Neighbors told NBC4 that a family lives in the home where the shooting was reported, and that screams were heard before gunshots. Neighbors said they could hear someone screaming, "Look at me" and "I love you."
A handgun was recovered at the home, investigators said. No arrests were reported Monday morning.
In a statement released Monday morning, authorities did not confirm whether the case is a murder-suicide.
